HIGHLIGHTS FROM THE 2017 GALA

On May 16, 2017, we celebrated the accomplishments, both present and future, of our Fellows from the college graduating Class of 2021. OneGoal-Chicago collectively raised more than $1 million to close the degree divide here at home and across the nation. Thank you to our guests, sponsors, board members and host committee who made this possible.

Our event honoree, Valerie Jarrett, former Special Advisor to President Barack Obama, kicked off the night by sharing the following advice with our Fellows: “Own your life and your decisions, and feel a sense of empowerment over your own future. If you do that, then you can go 100 different directions but you choose the one that’s right for you.” Later in the evening, OneGoal Year Three Fellow, Alejandro Rios, showcased empowerment over his future as he passionately spoke to the crowd. It was in the class of his Program Director, Ms. O’Leary, where he first envisioned himself on a college campus, a vision that is now a reality.
