About OneGoal

Despite decades of work and millions of dollars invested, the degree divide continues to be one of our nation’s most complex and critical injustices, with deep roots in systems of oppression and racism.  Only 22% of students from low-income communities earn a college degree, compared to 67% of their peers from high-income areas.

COVID-19 further exposed and exacerbated inequity, with communities of color and those in low-income areas impacted at disproportionately high rates. We are looking for individuals to join us in our fight for equity during this critical time.

  • OneGoal has grown from a small afterschool program serving just 32 students in Chicago to a nationwide movement that is serving some 14,000 students in six communities.
  • Our model, honed over 12 years, has three core differentiators: A rigorous, culturally relevant content and experience, cohorts of students who can support each other over the course of three years, and a teacher who supports our most vulnerable students’ long-term ambitions.
  • 88% of OneGoal high school graduates enroll in a postsecondary institution, and 79% of those who enroll persist one year after high school.

The Role

As a Year Three Director of Teacher Support, you will work on a team that supports recent high school graduates and the adult mentors who work with them. Your primary mission is to manage, coach, and develop a portfolio of OneGoal Program Directors (teachers) to become lifelong leaders in the movement by guiding their Fellows (students) through the third year of the OneGoal program so that they meet our ambitious persistence goals on their journeys to attaining their greatest postsecondary aspirations. You believe – and your work has demonstrated your belief – that all students can achieve those aspirations. To do this, you will coach and support our Program Directors to deliver the OneGoal program, reflect on our past experiences and data, set purposeful and measurable goals, and develop key mindsets, skill sets, and knowledge around Culturally Responsive Pedagogy (CRP), and thoughtfully prioritize our work in a way that drives us efficiently toward our vision.

You will do this through:

  • Training and Coaching (40%): Train and coach teachers in developing critical knowledge, skills, and mindsets to facilitate the OneGoal postsecondary coaching program to support their students’ postsecondary journeys while working more broadly to close the degree divide for our students.
  • Data Collection, Analysis, and Strategy (30%): Analyze data to inform your coaching and training strategy and communicate progress to goal trends and insights to relevant stakeholders.
  • Collaborating and Innovating (15%):  Collaborate with other OneGoal staff, committing to an aligned strategy to achieve team program outcomes.
  • Strengthening the OneGoal Community (15%): Work to achieve meaningful outcomes, contribute to building a strong team and culture, and commit to your own learning + development aligned to our Core Values.
