Location: Preferred in Chicago, IL (HQ) or in a OneGoal region: Atlanta, GA; Houston, TX; Boston, MA; New York City, NY; Bay Area, CA, but flexible within the following states: California, Colorado, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Texas, Virginia, Washington D.C.

Salary Range: $92,000 – $98,000 is the hiring salary range (i.e. the range a candidate would be offered to start). Please note: OneGoal aligns salaries to Cost of Labor, so the actual salary offered would be dependent on the Cost of Labor in the candidate’s living location.

The Person

The Senior Financial Analyst – BP is a member of the Finance and Operations team, which is charged with building and managing the systems, processes, and policies necessary to become a scalable, sustainable, and enduring organization over the next five years.

 

As the Senior Financial Analyst – BP,  your mission is to deeply analyze financial data, specifically by acting as a business thought partner with our six regional teams. Your primary responsibilities will include:

 

General Partnership with Regional Teams (30-40%)

 

  • Proactively partnering with Chief Regions Officer, Regional Operations leaders, & 6 Executive Directors (leading each region) to provide financial leadership and support in:
    • Focusing on improving decision making supported by financial data and analysis
    • Understanding operating leaders’ perspectives & long-term plans and leveraging financial expertise to help them achieve those plans
    • Make recommendations & implementing solutions to improve operational efficiencies

 

Special Project: Supporting Region to State Transition (20-25%)

 

  • Aiding regional teams in their transitions from a regional footprint to a more scalable state-wide reach by:
    • Modeling expanded revenue streams and respective expense run-rates over several years
    • Modeling fixed & variable costs and conducting analysis to  enhance the expansion of product lines
    • Using sound financial insight to provide  recommendations on which costs should be held nationally vs. at the state level

 

Supporting Revenue Generation & Tracking (20-25%)

 

  • Creating grant project budgets for a grant requests across the 6 regions
    • Collaborating with regional fundraising teams to ensure  budgets and reporting reflect grant narratives and grant restrictions indicated by the donors
  • Tracking & forecasting multi-year weighted pipelines including non-profit restrictions
  • Partnering with development, operations, and finance leaders to build strong revenue forecasts across multiple streams and understand the relationships between Development tracking and GAAP accounting of revenue

 

Annual Planning Support (10-15%)

 

  • Meeting with regional teams to outline their annual budget asks
    • Partnering with leaders to standardize the processes for revenue and expense budgeting across regions, ensuring that their budgets are aligned with the strategic priorities of the organization
  • Consolidating the data & making recommendations to the Finance team on where each budget should land

 

Miscellaneous (5-10%)

 

  • Improving reporting efficiency through additional automation & tweaking
  • Preparing select board & finance committee presentation data
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

 

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Statistics or another related field (Required)
    • 6+ years of experience in financial analytics or similar (Required)
    • Strong communicator, capable of fostering relationships across the organization (Required)
    • Ability to self-manage multiple tasks and successfully lead cross functional projects (Required)
    • Great problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret and act on the insights of others (Required)
    • Very skilled in spreadsheet data manipulating & comfortable navigating systems (Required)
    • Experience developing long-term, multi-revenue stream financial models (Preferred)
    • Knowledge of nonprofit accounting rules & reporting (Preferred)
  • Lived experience of the Fellows we serve (Preferred)
