WELCOME TO BAY AREA

We are excited that the Bay Area is our newest region. While we do not yet have current school specific partnerships, we intend to work with several districts in Bay Area counties.

*2017-18 is a building year. Numbers reflect new partner schools and Fellows being recruited to begin in the fall of 2018.

THE NEED IN THE BAY AREA

Despite the vast wealth and innovation commonly associated with the Bay Area today, not all communities have benefited from the technology and innovation booms of the past few decades.  In the East Bay region, 71% of students are considered low-income, and the majority would be the first in their family to graduate from college. Currently, only 1 out of every 10 Oakland ninth graders will complete college within five years of high school graduation.  OneGoal is excited to partner with the Bay Area as our sixth region and to bring our scalable, teacher-led model to the communities who need it most.

PARTNERSHIP &
COLLABORATION

We are building school partnerships in  Oakland Unified School District (OUSD) so that we can begin serving students in the Fall of 2018. As part of the Oakland Promise portfolio of college access and success providers,we are excited to work alongside OUSD and other committed leaders to meet our shared goal of getting more students to and through college.

ROOM FOR GROWTH

OneGoal plans to expand to serve more students in the broader Bay Area. We are in discussions with districts in surrounding counties that constitute the East and North Bays of the greater San Francisco Bay Area, including West Contra Costa County, Solano County, and Marin County, in collaboration with their respective Promise programs. Please contact Mark Haggarty if you would like to learn more about our growth plans in the Bay Area or to connect us to local leaders.

LEADERSHIP

Our success in the Bay Area  requires the establishment of a strong infrastructure in the 2017-2018 school year so that we can fully support our first cohorts of students in the Fall of 2018. Alongside securing partnerships with education providers, we are building additional investment from the philanthropic community, cultivating a regional Board of Directors, and seeking outstanding  executive director candidates to lead OneGoal in the Bay Area.

SUPPORT THE BAY AREA

“As leaders of The Oakland Promise, we fully endorse and welcome the addition of OneGoal to our portfolio of providers serving the students of Oakland. We believe that the OneGoal model provides additional necessary, differentiated support for our students who are most at-risk of not completing college, and we have advocated for OneGoal’s consideration of the Bay Area for site expansion in conversations over the last year.”
